Dishwasher leaks
Appliance malfunctions and supply or drain connection failures release water behind and beneath the unit, where it migrates under adjacent cabinet runs and flooring.
Kitchen mold removal targets the concealed spaces where appliance leaks collect: under sink bases, behind dishwashers and refrigerators, and in the subfloor beneath cabinet runs. We trace the leak, remove contaminated cabinetry and flooring, treat framing and dry the assembly before anything is rebuilt. Free evaluation in Marietta, GA.
Kitchens fail quietly. A refrigerator water line leak, a dishwasher supply connection or a slow drain leak under the sink releases a small volume continuously into a cabinet base or under a floor covering. The cabinet hides it, the floor covering traps it, and by the time there is an odour or a soft spot, the particleboard base and the subflooring beneath have been wet for months.
If two or more of these are present, the underlying condition is usually larger than what is visible. A free on-site evaluation with moisture readings establishes the real extent before any work is scoped — call (770) 206-7911 to arrange one.
Appliance malfunctions and supply or drain connection failures release water behind and beneath the unit, where it migrates under adjacent cabinet runs and flooring.
Ice maker and water line connections drip slowly behind the appliance onto flooring and subflooring that never dries.
Plumbing leak cleanup under sinks is often delayed because the cabinet contains the water. Damp particleboard and the wall cavity behind it support growth out of sight.
Drain backups and failed connections wet the cabinet base, flooring and toe-kick area, and the material stays saturated between uses.
Our process
Each step is documented, and the job closes on moisture readings rather than on appearance.
Appliances are pulled and connections checked, with moisture readings taken through cabinet bases, flooring and the adjacent wall so the real extent is known.
The affected run is contained to keep particulate out of the rest of the kitchen and adjoining living areas during removal.
Saturated cabinet bases, toe kicks, flooring and affected subflooring sections are removed. Particleboard that has been wet does not recover.
Framing, subfloor and wall surfaces that remain are treated before reassembly.
Air movers and dehumidifiers dry the subfloor and framing, including cavities under cabinet runs where air exchange is poor.
Moisture content readings confirm drying completion before any reconstruction or cabinet replacement is scheduled.
Materials assessed
Removal is decided by material and by moisture reading, not by how the surface looks. Porous materials that have absorbed water are removed; non-porous and semi-porous materials are cleaned, treated and dried in place wherever that is appropriate.
Where a job overlaps with other work — a water source that also affected moldy flooring removal or wall mold removal — it is scoped as one project so nothing is left damp between two separate visits.

Answers
Solid wood boxes that have only been damp at the base can sometimes be saved. Particleboard and MDF cabinet bases that have absorbed water swell and lose structure, and they hold moisture against the subfloor, so those sections come out.
No. The area behind and beneath it has to be accessible for assessment, removal and drying — that space is normally where the affected material is.
The leak source is identified during the assessment and documented. Drying verification follows the repair, so the readings confirm both that the material is dry and that it is staying dry.
If it is confined to a wipeable non-porous surface with a corrected leak, it may not be. If the cabinet base, flooring or wall cavity is wet, the porous material is the issue and cleaning the visible surface will not resolve it.
